It will take approximately 8-10 weeks from the time the bouquet is dropped off until a mock-up is sent. Once the design is provided, we will require 1-3 weeks to glue and complete the framing process.
The variability of our turnaround time depends on the time of year (i.e., peak wedding season) and the number of frames ordered (i.e., larger orders with multiple frames will take longer to complete).
-
We accept last-minute bookings if we have the capacity. Once we are fully booked, we will not accept additional preservation requests.
The best way to inquire about our availability is to submit an inquiry here. You can also email us at blossomandpress.info@gmail.com with your event date and a current photo of your flowers. A photo of your flowers will give us an idea their condition for preservation.
We will get back to you as soon as possible to confirm our availability and provide the next steps.

All bouquets must be dropped off at our location in Richmond Hill, Ontario. The exact address will be provided upon booking.
We understand the importance of your bouquet to you. Therefore, we do not recommend shipping it to us to avoid the risk of damage or lost packages. If you or a friend/family member cannot drop off the bouquet, we recommend using alternative methods such as ride-hailing services (e.g., Uber/Lyft) for delivery. It’s a safer way to get your precious flowers to us and saves you costs on packaging and shipping.
-
Flowers preserve best when they are fresh! They should be dropped off no later than 4 days after the event.
If it has been more than 4 days since your event, please provide a current photo of the flowers to assess whether they are still in good condition for preservation. We will be happy to preserve any viable flowers in your bouquet. Flowers that are mouldy or damaged can’t be worked on and will be omitted.

Yes! Any flowers or petals that have been preserved but are not used in the frame design will be returned to you. We’ll also provide instructions on how to DIY the flowers to make your very own frame or arts and crafts activity at home! Note that the flowers we return to you are deconstructed and without color correction.
Flowers, Design, After Care
-
Flowers preserve best when fresh! Because we are not able to use wilted, mouldy, or browned petals, it is important to keep the flowers in the best shape possible.
Flowers should be placed in cool, fresh water before and after the event. If possible, change the water daily. Avoid storing the flowers in warm places (e.g., near the heater). For events in the summer, consider delivering the flowers to us sooner rather than later.
Do not place flowers in the freezer; this will cause irreversible damage, and we will not be able to work with them.
-
Yes! We only preserve fresh flowers, and at this time, we are not accepting pre-dried bouquets. We will be using the best flowers for your design and will omit any flowers that are creased, ripped, browned, or mouldy.
-
Flowers are organic in nature, even after preservation. It is normal for them to fade over time, especially if the frame is exposed to sunlight. Our color correction techniques slow down this process, but expect colors to shift to a 'vintage' look over time.
-
In theory, it is possible to preserve all types of flowers. However, some preserve better than others due to its color, structure and water composition.
Some of our favorite flowers to preserve:
Roses, delphiniums, larkspur, ranunculus, tulips, colored dahlias, orchids, tweedia, stock flowers, sunflowers, snapdragons, carnations
Flowers that may not preserve the best:
Chrysanthemums, white dahlias, zinnia -
It's natural for flowers to change color during the preservation process because of their organic nature. Lighter shades (e.g., whites, baby pinks) tend to shift more than bold colors. As part of our preservation process, we color-correct each petal to closely match its original shade. This helps maintain vibrancy for as long as possible.
At Blossom and Press, we preserve flowers by pressing and flattening them, and drawing out the water content of each bloom to fit a frame. Some ‘before’ and ‘after’ examples of flowers that we have preserved can be seen at the bottom of this page.
-
We use various color correction techniques (perfected over the years) to match the preserved flowers to their original color as much as possible. Artistically, we strive for a natural, organic look.
Color correction is especially important for white and light pink flowers as they tend to fade faster than other shades.
-
Yes and yes! We want you to absolutely love your frame. As part of the booking process, you can choose the design you wish to have. Once your flowers are preserved, we will provide a mock-up for approval before we glue the pieces.
-
Absolutely! We love personal touches in designs. The only caveat is that it must fit between two panes of glass. Please bring the requested addition when you drop off your flowers. If the photos are not ready or available, you are welcome to drop them off when they are ready.
-
No, please do not freeze your flowers. Freezing causes irreversible damage at the molecular level, making the blooms unusable. We cannot accept blooms that have been frozen.
-
Moisture - Avoid hanging your frame in places with high humidity (i.e., washroom/shower, kitchen appliances with steam).
Sunlight - Avoid direct sunlight to maintain color vibrancy as long as possible. Direct sunlight exposure will cause the color to fade faster.
Temperature - Avoid places with extreme temperatures (i.e., near heaters, or air conditioners).
Handling - Handle your frame with care, when moving or cleaning. Your frame is partially made of glass after-all.Note: flowers are organic matter, even after the preservation process. It is normal to see small loose pieces between the glass.
With proper care, pressed flowers can last for decades.
